Irmin Schmidt (born 29 May 1937 in Berlin) is a German keyboard player and composer, probably best known as a founding member of the band Can.
Bruno Alexander Spoerri (born 16 august 1935) is a Swiss jazz and electronics musician.
Born in Zurich, he studied applied psychology in Basel and Zurich. He played the saxophone as a student, and toured with the Modern Jazz Group Freiburg in Germany and Switzerland. In the early 1960s, he worked as a psychologist and career counsellor. He experimented with electrified saxophone and published the album Voice of Taurus in 1978.
Formed in Cologne, Germany, the core of Gina X Performance comprised charismatic Gina Kikoine (vocals and lyrics) and writer-producer-musician Zeus B. Held. Held had previously been a member of the group Birth Control, and split to record solo in 1978, beginning work with Kikoine that year.Between 1979 and 1984 the group released four albums of cool arthouse electro-disco: Nice Mover, X-Traordinaire, Voyeur and Yinglish. Their classic 1979 single No G.D.M. was a club hit on both sides of the Atlantic and remains a cult classic thanks to electro/synthcore compilations such as Nag Nag Nag. Slinky second single Nice Mover is also an established favourite, having appeared on the Andrew Weatherall compilation Nine O'Clock Drop.
Uwe Schmidt (aka Atom Heart, Atom™, Señor Coconut; born August 27, 1968 in Frankfurt am Main, West Germany), is a German composer, musician and producer of electronic music. He is often regarded as the father of electrolatino, electrogospel and aciton (acid-reggaeton) music.

Xmal Deutschland (pronounced: iks-mul doychlunt) was a musical group from Hamburg, Germany. Founded in 1980 with a completely female line-up, they became successful outside their native country. The lead singer of the band is vocalist Anja Huwe. Xmal Deutschland's last album was released in 1989.
Xmal Deutschland (often written as X-Mal Deutschland) was formed in 1980 by Anja Huwe (vocals), Manuela Rickers (guitar), Fiona Sangster (keyboards), Rita Simon (bass guitar) and Caro May (drums) in Hamburg, Germany. Their first single, "Großstadtindianer" was released a year later on Alfred Hilsberg’s ZickZack label. The band also contributed the to the label compilation Lieber Zuviel Als Zuwenig (ZZ 45). Around this time Rita Simon was replaced by Wolfgang Ellerbrock.
In 1982 the band released the Goth classic "Incubus Succubus". Drummer Caro May left the band and formed a new band, and the vacant drummer position was filled by Manuela Zwingmann the same year. While German audiences were less than receptive at first, a United Kingdom tour opening for the Cocteau Twins resulted in a label deal with independent label 4AD Records. Their debut album, Fetisch and the singles "Qual" and "Incubus Succubus II" were released in 1983, all 3 making the UK Independent charts, even though the band wrote and performed in German.
Manuela Zwingmann left the band after one year, being replaced by Peter Bellendir. This lineup, Huwe/Rickers/Sangster/Ellerbrock/Bellendir proved to be the longest running. 1984 saw the release of the single "Reigen" and the album Tocsin, followed by a world tour through 1985.
The Sequenz EP was essentially a remake of a John Peel session, which had been originally recorded April 30, 1985, and was broadcast May 13, 1985. The EP contained the tracks Jahr Um Jahr II, Autumn (the band’s first English lyrics, apart from brief snatches of English that appeared in Qual, Young Man and Tag für Tag) and Polarlicht but omitted Der Wind, which was played at the Peel sessions.
1986 saw the release of Matador, produced by Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers. Xmal Deutschland also opened for The Stranglers at a concert at Wembley Arena in London. Their follow-up album, Viva was recorded in Hamburg and was released in 1987, followed by the single "Sickle Moon". Viva contains a large number of English lyrics, among others a poem by Emily Dickinson. It was during this time that the band were interviewed by Jamie Meakes for the infamous underground Goth Fanzine 'House Of Dolls'.
After the release of Viva, Manuela Rickers, Fiona Sangster and Peter Bellendir left the group. Anja Huwe and Wolfgang Ellerbrock continue to work with Frank Z. (Abwärts) on guitar. Producer Henry Staroste played keyboards, and German studio drummer Curt Cress completed the line-up that would record the 1989 LP Devils and the singles "Dreamhouse" and "I’ll be near you". This also proved to be the last release of Xmal Deutschland, showing a change of direction towards mainstream pop. 1990 saw a few scattered live appearances by the group, but eventually the group split up.

After spending some time with Peter Seiler in a duo called "Sirius", Michael Bundt (ex-Medusa) went on to record several solo electronic works that resembled both the space majesty of early Jean Michel Jarre and the quirky krautrockish kinetics of Moebius & Plank. The first album is known to feature old friend Peter Seiler.
Living in Weinheim in the early 70s Germany, Michael Bundt used to play the bass with several bands as Nine Days Wonder on We Never Lost Control and Only the Dancers, Wintergarden on Wintergarden III, Medusa on a CBS single, and German Band called Nerve. In the mid 70s he decided to play solo and released 3 LPs, Just Landed Cosmic Kid, Neon, and Electri City, whereof "The Brain of Oskar Panizza" is still used in many club mixes (Our friend Pilooski made a terrific edit of this track!)
Today Michael works as composer and producer of several bands and albums as Tritonus on Between the Universes. He lives in Mannheim, Germany and produces a jazz singer named Silke Hauck.

The members of Deo weren't profi musicians, all they had civil jobs.Harald Hoffmann was a photographer, Klaus Kranz was electrotechnician, Andreas Pasieka studied social pedagogy and Christoph Aengenheyster studied Latin and Greek.Deo has only one released album.
They reformed the band in 1984 under a new name,Sign System. The members were the same, but everything else changed around them.Their new label was Bellaphon with a new producer Ian Wilson (produced also Vasco Rossi),the new musical style was Synth-pop, Disco,Italo with english texts only.Their biggest hit was the Secret Service-like "Stay with me" (1984), appeared also on "I love Italo Disco vol.33" .I think the other songs are good too.Nothing punk or new wave, but nice easy-listening songs with typical 80's sound.
They made only one album.

Hong Kong syndicate was a German pop band of the 1980s.
In the beginning of the decade, the decorator and disc jockey Bruno Grünberg, a graphic designer Hartmut Möller and Gerd Plez, met in West Berlin and founded Hong Kong syndikat, and received after a short time a record deal and released their debut album First string .
The first single, Berlin Bleibt Doch Berlin , contains quotations from the former U.S. president Ronald Reagan .While the band on the first record are still predominantly German singing, they recorded the following albums in English, even to orient on the English-speaking market.
In 1984 gave Hong Kong syndicate their first concert in New York , in August of that year she participated in London, their second album Olympia , which was produced by Rusty Egan, a member of the band Visage .Followed the album Never Too Much in 1985. Were successful - in other European countries - the singles Too Much and Concrete & Clay , the latter a remake of an oldies Unit 4 + 2 .
In consequence, Hong Kong syndikat is not connected to the successes to date, the album Des Teutons Pas Nippon from 1987 was a flop .Two years later, in 1989, Hong Kong syndikat broke up.

The German group, Splash Band, pay homage to director and composer, John Carpenter. This set of tracks, basically the main titles to most of Carpenter's early film work (Dark Star, Assault On Precinct 13, Halloween, The Fog ec) is given the electronic treatment and turns the themes into catchy dance mixes. Quite an interesting idea. There are some very unique interpretations here, some quite good, such as tracks taken from Dark Star and The Thing for example. This CD was originally an LP that came out in the mid 1980s. You can tell because Christine is the latest film of Carpenter's on the album (no Starman or Big Trouble In Little China or Prince Of Darkness or They Live).

Supersempfft (also known as Roboterwerke) were one of the first if not first electronic musicians from Germany, starting back in the late 60's. They went on to release 3 albums in the late 70's, early 80's and were a huge influence on people such as Herbie Hancock, Afrika Bambaataa and even Kraftwerk. Robotwerke, aka Dieter Kolb and Franz Aumüller, were one of the first groups to experiment with electronic music in the mid-60s, inventing some of the first self-made drum machines. Look HERE Their fans include such luminaries as Herbie Hancock, Afrika Bambaataa, Sven Vath and Kraftwerk. Since the 60's they had allowed themselves to become more and more inspired by the Caribbean sounds of steeldrum and Soca, and developed their own brand of Soca influenced funky disco electro.

Peter Baumann (born January 29, 1953 in Berlin) formed the core line-up of the German electronic group Tangerine Dream with Edgar Froese and Christopher Franke in 1971. While touring with the band, Baumann composed his first solo album in 1976. Shortly thereafter, in 1977, he left the band and started his own solo career.
When he was eight, the Berlin Wall was built, and Baumann entered the American/German Community School in Berlin, where he learned English and was first exposed to American culture. At age 14, Peter joined a cover band and performed at G.I. clubs. Then, in 1971, at age 18, he met Christopher Franke, and ended up joining Tangerine Dream in replacement of their former organist Steve Schroyder.
Two years later, Tangerine Dream signed with Virgin Records and their first album on the label, Phaedra, became a Top 10 seller on the Melody Maker charts. As a result of this and other recording successes, Tangerine Dream toured the world for eight years. They also made successful forays into film scoring.
Baumann had temporarily left Tangerine Dream twice, first in 1973 (returning in time for Franke & Froese to shelf their current work on Green Desert and the three to start anew on what was to become Phaedra), and again in 1975, leaving Michael Hoenig as a temporary substitute for an Australian tour. His departure in 1977, shortly after the completion of the band's first U.S. tour, was final and led to a brief solo career.
During the 1980s, he founded a record label, Private Music, specializing in instrumental music in a style popularly referred to as New Age. Artists signed to the label included Yanni, Patrick O'Hearn, Jerry Goodman, Suzanne Ciani, and former bandmates Tangerine Dream. In 1996, the label was sold to Windham Hill Records' parent company, BMG, who continue to distribute some of the back catalogue of its more successful artists. Baumann has since kept a low profile from the music business, devoting his time to studying Eastern and Western spiritual traditions, religions and philosophies. He has since founded the Baumann Foundation and developed a philosophical theory focused on human suffering and liberation called Natural Enlightenment.

In one side Drafi Deutscher was famous for his German "schlager" style and in other side Chris Evans rather involved in synth-pop, new age and italo disco in his carreer.(He was behind "italo-disco king" Mike Mareen's first 1985 album as co-composer and keyboarder.)
The result of their joint effort is a cosy, catchy sunshine music with some hits, the most known are "Guardian Angel" and "Everyday Loser".
Perhaps the best work they have ever done together. Chris Evans' style more dominates here, he had much more freedom than in other cases. Though Evans and Deutscher several times helped each other since the middle of 70's, Masquerade was their only official band.

The Helloween EP is the debut recording by the German band Helloween. Even though it wasn't a power metal album it was very significant for the genre.
It was released in 1985 on Noise Records and was followed up by their first full-length album, Walls of Jericho later that year.
Helloween formed in 1984 in Hamburg, Germany. The original line-up included Kai Hansen on vocals and guitar, Michael Weikath on guitar, Markus Grosskopf on bass, and Ingo Schwichtenberg on drums. That year, the band signed with Noise Records and recorded two songs for a Noise compilation record called Death Metal. The compilation featured the bands Hellhammer, Running Wild, and Dark Avenger. The two tracks were "Oernst of Life" by Weikath and Hansen's "Metal Invaders," a faster version of which would appear on the band's first full-length album.

Bad Boys Blue are a multinational pop group that was formed in Cologne, Germany. The group performed many international hits including You're a Woman, Pretty Young Girl, I Wanna Hear Your Heartbeat and Come Back and Stay.
Bad Boys Blue was formed in the summer of 1984 by German producer Tony Hendrik and his lyricist wife Karin van Haaren. The original trio was composed of British Trevor "Supa T" Taylor born in Birmingham, England; the original lead vocalist, British John McInerney; the lead singer since 1987, and American Andrew Thomas. The debut single L.O.V.E. In My Car failed to make an impression in the pop charts but the follow-up You're A Woman was a success, reaching the top 10 in many European countries.
Trevor Taylor - the original lead singer of Bad Boys Blue - died of a heart attack in his home in Cologne on January 19 of 2008 at the age of 50.
On July 21 2009 Andrew Thomas died in Cologne at the age of 63. John McInerney is now the only member alive from the original line-up of Bad Boys Blue.

Modern Talking was a German dance pop duo consisting of Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen. Genre-wise they were often classified under Europop. They have been referred to as Germany's most successful pop duo, and have had a number of hit singles reaching the top-5 in many countries. Some of their most popular and widely known singles are "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", "You Can Win If You Want", "Cheri, Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie", "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)" and "Geronimo's Cadillac".
Modern Talking's first period of activity was from 1984 to 1987. After the breakup they reunified in 1998 and made a successful comeback, releasing more music from 1998 to 2003. To accommodate central European music markets of the late 1990s, they changed their original 1980s mellow Europop sound to an up-tempo Eurodance.
Immediately after the duo split in the mid 1987, Bohlen formed his own project called Blue System and enjoyed several high chart positions.
Meanwhile, Anders went solo touring under the name of Modern Talking on several continents until the beginning of 1989 when he started to record some of his new pop-like material in LA and London, and also in his native country. Anders recorded five solo albums in English ,Different, Whispers, Down on Sunset, When Will I See You Again and Souled, and one of his album was also recorded in Spanish, Barcos de Cristal. He was more successful in foreign countries than his own country, yet he also reached several hits in Germany. Despite all the quarrels and disagreements that Bohlen and Anders experienced between themselves in the past, they began keeping in touch again after Anders moved back to Koblenz, Germany in 1994.
The 1st Album is the debut album by Modern Talking, released on 1 April 1985 in Germany. The album contains two international hits "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" and "You Can Win If You Want", the first one of which peaked at No. 1 in many countries including Germany (where it spent six weeks at the top), Switzerland and Austria while entering the top-5 in other countries like France, Norway, Sweden. Both singles reached a gold status in Germany selling over 250,000 units respectively.
The 1st Album, which was released by Hansa Records label and distributed by Ariola, BMG peaked at No. 1 in Germany on May 27, 1985, almost two months after it was released. The album spent total of 4 weeks at the top and 18 weeks within the top-10, it eventually went platinum selling well over 500,000 units in Germany alone.
The lead vocals on The 1st Album were produced by Thomas Anders with an exception of only one track "There’s Too Much Blue In Missing You", the vocals of which were produced by Dieter Bohlen.
